Skyhawks Sports

Skyhawks Sports Camps, made available by the YMCA, offer a skill-focused experience for kids between the ages of 3 and 12. Skyhawks is a national youth sports camp company with local camps in over 500 communities.

Soccer: June 11-15 or August 6-10, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., ages 7-12, Northwest Park ($136 members/$146 non-members).

Basketball: June 18-22 or July 9-13, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., ages 7-12, Helena Family YMCA ($136/$146).

Multi-sport: July 2-6 or August 13-17, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., ages 6-12, Northwest Park ($108/$118 with no camp on Wednesday during first session, $136/$146 for second session).

Mini-Hawk (soccer, baseball and basketball): June 25-29 or July 16-20, 9 a.m.-noon, ages 4-7, ($106/$116).

Physical Enhancement and Weight Lifting

Physical Enhancement and Weight Lifting Camps will be held at Capital High on June 11-July 31.

The camps will be held in the Capital gymnasium and weight room. Sessions include beginning weight lifting at 7-8 a.m. with Physical Enhancement (DOTS) held from 8-9:30 a.m. five days a week. Students may attend one or both of the camps for a cost of $65 for the eight-week program. This camp is designed for high school aged boys and girls, including incoming freshmen. This is a great way to stay or get into shape.

YMCA Athlete Camp

Join fitness expert and former Carroll football player Ben Wahl to stay in shape for all your summer activities and to be ready for the next upcoming sport season.

Participants will work on speed, agility, flexibility, jump training and cardiovascular fitness in a safe and supportive environment.

The camp is for ages 13-18 and will be conducted at 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday the week of June 18-24. The fee is $30 for YMCA member and $65 for non-members.


Bengal Basketball Camp

The Bengal Basketball Camp for players entering grades 4-12 will be held July 9-12, and the camp for boys and girls entering grades K-3 will be conducted July 9-11 at Helena High.

Camp for boys and girls entering grades K-3 will be conducted at 6-8 p.m. Camp for boys entering grades 4-8 will be from 9 a.m.-noon. And camp for boys entering grades 9-12 will be from 1-4 p.m.

Cost of the camp is $75 per participant for boys entering grades 4-12 and $45 per participant for boys and girls entering grades K-3. A $10 discount will be given to each additional family member.

Bruin Camp

Once again this summer, Capital High boys coach Guy Almquist will be running the Bruin Basketball Camp for boys entering grades 4-9 next fall. This camp has been very popular for young players interested in learning to play the “Bruin Way.”

Both camps are scheduled for July 9-12. Camp for grades 4-6 is scheduled from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., while the grade 7-9 camp is from 1:30-5:00 p.m. All sessions will be held at Capital High School.

Capital City Girls

It’s time to get registered for basketball camp. The Capital City Basketball Camp will be conducted for grades 4-8 (9 a.m.-noon) and grades 9-12 (1-4 p.m.) on June 18-21.

Junior Bruin Camp

Capital High girls coach Bill Pilgeram will be running the Junior Bruin Basketball Camps for boys and girls entering grades 1-3 next fall. This camp has been popular for young players interested in an introduction to the passing, dribbling and shooting fundamentals of basketball.

Dates for the camp are July 9-11. All sessions are for boys or girls and will be held at Four Georgians Elementary School with 8-foot baskets.

Lady Bruin Camp

Capital High School girls coach Bill Pilgeram will be holding basketball camp this summer for girls entering grades 4-10 next fall. The Lady Bruin Basketball fundamental camp will be June 18-21 at Capital High. The camp will be broken into grades 4-6 in the morning from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and grades 7-10 from 1:30-5 p.m.

Hoop It Up

The Hoop It Up Basketball Camp will be offered to grade 1-8 boys and girls this June and July at East Valley Middle School in East Helena.

The grade 1-4 boys and girls camps will be June 26-28, with grades 1-2 at 9-11 a.m. and grades 3-4 at noon-2 p.m. The grade 1-4 camp focuses on skill development and fundamentals and campers will be playing on 8- or 9-foot baskets. Cost of the camp is $55.

The grade 5-8 girls camp will run July 9-12 from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. The grade 5-8 boys camp will be July 16-19. Both camps focus on skill development in the morning and competitions in the afternoon. Cost of the camp is $100.

Registration for Bengal Football Camp is open.

Grades 1-6 participate from July 23-26 at 10 a.m. to noon and the cost is $35. Grades 9-12 participate from July 23-26 at 6-8 p.m. and the cost is $35. The camp for grades 7-8 will be conducted Aug. 14-16 with times TBA. The cost is $25.

Small Fry football

It is time to register for Small Fry Football.

Westside Flag Football

The Westside flag football league is open to children in grades 1-4 and will run from Sept. 3-Oct. 4.

Lifetime Kicking

The Lifetime Kicking Academy will hold a Montana Camp June 8-9 at the Maroon Activities Center in Butte.

The camp, which will be conducted by professional kicker and punter Dan Zeidman, will feature personal and group instruction for punters, kickers and snappers. Participants may choose a one-day or two-day camp.

Dan Zeidman is a nationally acclaimed kicker and punter who played collegiately for Idaho State University. He has had multiple NFL tryouts and spent nine weeks in the Indoor Football League with the Colorado Ice.

Helena Golf

Registration is open for Helena Golf Camp for middle school students on May 21-23 and high school students May 29-31.

The camps will have golf instruction, contests, Par 3 play and more. T-shirts will be given to all participants, along with daily prizes.

Helena Family YMCA

Last Chance Splash

Helena Volleyball

The camp is scheduled for June 11-14 at Helena High’s gymnasium and campers will be instructed by Helena High coaching staff and former players.

Morning session for grades 5-8 costs $70 and runs from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Afternoon session for grades 9-12 costs $70 and runs from 12:30-4 p.m.

Evening session for grades K-4 costs $30 and runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Horse care and riding

Do you love horses? Here is your chance to learn to ride and take care of horses.

Learn all the basic steps you’ll need to know on your journey to a lifetime of enjoying horses at this summer camp. Campers will learn to catch their horse, brush, clean their feet, saddle and bridle them. Riders will learn to start, stop, turn and back their horses, work on circles and o-mok-see events at a walk, trot and lope, controlling their horses at all times. Campers will ride in an arena and on the trail.

The week-long camps run throughout the summer with two sessions every day from 8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. Campers may choose morning or afternoon session.

Camp is open to anyone grade 1 and up and adults are also welcome. All riding levels are welcome. Horses, tack and helmets are provided. Campers need to bring shoes or boots with half-inch heels suitable for riding, a water bottle, sun block and a rain coat.

Cost is $150 per week with a $50 deposit.
