The Helena Bighorns junior hockey team took the measure of the visiting Yellowstone Quake on Saturday, 4-1.

After a scoreless first period in the Helena Ice Arena, the Bighorns tallied a pair of goals in the second, by Ben Kottmeier at 6:44, and Shawn Mitchell at 16:06. Valary Dietz, Josh Smith, and Niskanen and Nick Battaglia were credited with assists.

Yellowstone closed the gap to 2-1 in the third stanza, on a goal by Shuldt at 4:01. Then Helena's Jarett Scheibel tacked on an insurance goal for the home team, at the 14:57 mark, assisted by Nicholas Noel. Next, Noel's goal at 19:46 put an exclamation point on the Bighorns' triumph.

The Quake actually out-shot the hosts 55-47. Helena goalie Nick Battaglia posted 54 saves, compared to 43 stops by Yellowstone's Wascenczenko.
