The Carroll College men’s southern road trip started off with a win Monday evening.
The No. 6 Saints (10-1) defeated Xavier University (3-7) 76-60 down in New Orleans.
“This was a tough contest against a deep, strong team,” Dr. Carson Cunningham texted. “The fellas’ ability to share the rock and execute against Xavier’s defense was impressive. The Gold Rush is a game outfit. Now we have another challenge in Mobile on Dec. 21.”
The Saints had four players in double figures led by Ryan Imhoff’s 16 points, 11 assists and four rebounds. Zach Taylor added 14, Lorel Johnson had 13 and Steven Helm put up 12 points.
Ife Kalejaiye once again did not play for the Saints as he continues to work his way back from a rib injury.
Carroll led 32-26 at the half and then used a 24-8 run to put away Xavier.
Carroll’s trip continues with a stop in Mobile, Alabama, on Wednesday, Dec. 21, to play the University of Mobile (5-4).
