The jail levy should be passed to make sure we have mental health, preventive, and crisis intervention services in Lewis and Clark County. On any given day the jail population is made up of over 50 percent of people with some form of mental health issues. If our city/county officials would have spent more on preventive or intervention mental health services 10 years ago we might not be in the predicament we have now with overcrowding of jails, or maybe our state wouldn't have the overcrowding of prisons. It's too bad we have to include these services in a jail levy to justify having them. Shame on you, county officials, but if this levy passes I'm holding you to your word for these mental health services.
