TAIPEI, Taiwan – Traveling by plane seems a bit less safe these days, especially in Asia.

Today, a TransAsia aircraft plane has gone down in Taiwan, and some of the crash was captured on tape. Recorded from a car on the freeway, the plane can be seen descending towards the earth. Suddenly, it banks hard to the right. As it passes the freeway, the fuselage barely misses the road. The left wing is not so lucky; it is torn from the doomed plane, which immediately careens into a river below.

This crash is the latest in a short string of aviary accidents. Last summer a Malaysia Airlines plane was attacked and destroyed as it flew over wartorn Ukraine. Then in December, an Air Asia flight went down over the Java Sea. In both of those cases, all hands were lost.

A reported 26 people are confirmed dead in this latest accident, but at least 15 survived.  Reports indicate that search crews are looking for at least 17 more missing persons.
