SOMEWHERE IN BRAZIL – Close calls probably don’t get much closer than this.

Video posted to YouTube yesterday from an unidentified location in Brazil depict a group of men and boys trying to unclog a drainage ditch that runs underneath a dirt path. Because the ditch has been clogged, water from the ditch has overflowed, flooding the road and much of the surrounding land. As the men work to dislodge the foliage from the ditch, the women who are filming laugh at the group of men.

When, finally, the group is successful, they’re a bit too successful. Two of the group of five is sucked under the water and down into the ditch they’ve been trying to unclog. Just as you think you’ve seen someone die, the man and boy exit the canal safely on the other side of the path. Obviously, the boy is more than stoked about what just happened. The man and the women filming? Not so much.

Interestingly, before the men get pulled under, one of women filming the whole ordeal clearly says, “Que perigo!” which is Portuguese for, “How dangerous!”

You think?

As of this writing, no legitimate news reports have surfaced in American or Brazilian media documenting what went on here and where it happened. But, given the fact that the video already has almost half a million views on YouTube in the day since it was posted, it’s likely that such reports will eventually surface and will more completely illuminate what happened.
