MISSOULA — Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens continue to seek tips on a cow moose that was poached last week northeast of Avon, and those who share information on the case may now receive up to $2,000.

Public donations bumped the reward amount from the original offering of $1,000 to $2,000 for providing tips that lead to a conviction in the case. Callers to TIP-MONT – 1-800-847-6668 – can remain anonymous.

Game warden Joe Kambic says that the moose was poached Monday, Feb. 18, near Carpenter and Ophir creeks. The moose had evidence of multiple gunshot wounds from a small-caliber rifle.

Kambic reminds anyone with information on the case to call TIP-MONT or to contact him directly at (406) 490-1227.

It would be a good idea for an account to be set up to recieve donations for poaching rewards. I would like to think that everyone would make a donation so as to get the reward up to a dollar amount that even the mother of the poacher would turn them in.
