Here are excerpts from an e-mail I received from Max Baucus. “There’s a storm of outside spending on the horizon - and we need to be ready...can you help with a contribution?” He goes on to say: “Outside interests will throw millions of dollars at us in Montana. But ... with your help... I know we can withstand the storm...”

What a crock. The New York Times recently reported that Baucus received nearly $68,000 from a pharmaceutical company named Amgen, and in turn, he and Senators Mitch McConnel ($73,000) and Orin Hatch ($59,000) concocted a $500 million secret sweetheart deal for Amgen as part of Fiscal Cliff negotiations that most other senators were not privy to. And get this; Amgen had just agreed to pay criminal and civil penalties amounting to $762 million for illegally marketing a drug. So these three clowns effectively helped Amgen pay nearly two thirds of that fine with our money.

I find it interesting (and disgusting) that Amgen has 74 lobbyists in Washington, and among them are former chiefs of staff for Baucus and McConnell, and Hatch has a top aide who previously worked for Amgen. What a cesspool our nation’s Capitol has become, and Max is in it up to his neck. I’ve never contributed to Max, and can’t imagine I ever will. Seems he already gets plenty of money from those “outside interests” who “throw millions of dollars at us in Montana.”

I, too, was amazed that this story was given so little attention in the Montana press, including both Lee and Gannett (sp?) publications.

I found it interesting that this article has a very short time span on the IR news. Perhaps it shed a negative light on one of their favorite sons? Frankly, this type of behavior on the part of our elected officials is the norm. And it is not partisan, Republicans and Democrats are guilty. We need to throw them all out!

Max needs to go, been there to long, and simply to corrupt, end of story.
