Give our students tools they need to make good choices

I wanted to comment on the recent front page article on folks wanting to stop sex education. I grew up here, and when I did, we had the standard, physical mechanics of sex education. So no one talked about STDs or pregnancy or any other stuff.

Didn’t seem to stop the good or bad girls, or boys. And I still don’t understand why if we don’t acknowledge what is a human desire why we think it will change what has never changed. We are biologically built to want to have sex in our pre-adult and adult years. It’s natural. And what better than to have folks talk about what it is, how we feel, and making better choices based on what is there. God knows this.

It’s so strange that we don’t believe that we must not give students a good education about something so natural. If we don’t, and there are indisputable stats on this, we don’t arm them with what they need to choose to not have sex. Because we all know that which we deny will raise up in us.

So let’s just let God and education together let students make good choices. And some parents are uneducated, too, so why leave it to them? We shouldn’t be so afraid. If we believe God takes care of us, why not believe he takes care of us in all the ways he should? With our sexuality intact and with our morals taken care of.

God allowed the folks to do what was right in their own mind at Sodom and Gomorrah too! We all know how much he approved of that!!!!!

If your comment was not approved, perhaps:

    1. You called someone an idiot, a racist, a dope, a moron, etc. Please, no name-calling or profanity (or veiled profanity -- #$%^&*).

    2. You rambled, failed to stay on topic or exhibited troll-like behavior intended to hijack the discussion at hand.

    3. YOU SHOUTED YOUR COMMENT IN ALL CAPS. This is hard to read and annoys readers.

    5. You believe the newspaper's coverage is unfair. It would be better to write the editor at This is a forum for community discussion, not for media criticism. We'd rather address your concerns directly.

    6. You included an e-mail address or phone number, pretended to be someone you aren't or offered a comment that makes no sense.

    7. You accused someone of a crime or assigned guilt or punishment to someone suspected of a crime.

    8. Your comment is in really poor taste.

    9. Don't write a novel. If your comment is longer than the article you're commenting on, you might want to cut it down a bit. Lengthy comments will likely be removed.
