The man who died in a car crash near Helena Wednesday was identified as 26-year-old Kyle Boundy of Helena.
The head-on collision happened west of the East Helena viaduct on U.S. Highway 12 shortly before 1 p.m.
Boundy was a passenger in a Chevy Trailblazer that lost control and went into oncoming traffic, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. The Trailblazer hit a Suburban on its front passenger side.
Boundy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause for the Trailblazer losing control is currently under investigation, but the Montana Highway Patrol said Wednesday that speed was likely a factor, given the icy road conditions.
Lewis and Clark County dispatch received 30 reports of area crashes as heavy snow fell on Wednesday.
