The Helena community will have two more chances to hear from candidates for municipal offices before the Nov. 7 election.

A forum for Helena mayoral candidates Wilmot Collins and incumbent James Smith will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Helena Civic Television, 1015 Poplar St. The mayoral forum will be hosted by the Helena-Area League of Women Voters and broadcast on channel 189 at 7 p.m. Oct. 12, 3 p.m. Oct. 13, 2 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Oct. 14, and noon and 8 p.m. Oct. 15.

League of Women Voters board member Claudette Morton will present a series of questions to the mayoral candidates, allowing candidates 2-3 minutes to respond to each one. Though questions will not be taken from the audience during the forum, there will be an opportunity for the public to meet the candidates afterward.

A forum for Helena’s mayoral and city commission candidates is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 400 S. Oakes St. Moderator Katherine Greiner, assistant professor of theology at Carroll College, and audience members will ask the questions at that event, which will be hosted by the church and the college.

The candidates competing for two seats up for election on the city commission are incumbent Andres Haladay as well as Mark A. Burzynski, Sean Logan, Heather K. O'Loughlin, Gary L. Spaeth and Justin Ailport.
