Shawn P. Hurley recently earned his doctoral degree in biological sciences from Montana State University. He is the son of Patrick and Jeannie Hurley of Helena.

Carroll College nursing student Jessica Sloan was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Navy Nurse Corps Association's Northwest Chapter.

R.J. Smith has been elected vice president of the student government association at Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn. He is the son of Ronald and Jacquelyn Smith of Helena.

Abigail G. Feeback of Lincoln High School recently was awarded a $750 Montana Telecommunications Association memorial scholarship.

Benjamin Foran of Helena recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science from from the University of Portland in Portland, Ore.

David Fine of Helena was recently named to the Pi Sigma Alpha political science honors society at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.

Adam Peck, a graduating student at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y., was recently named a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honorary Society. He is the son of Julie and W. Ralph Peck of Helena.

Jason Elenbaas was recently awarded a Martin Seven English Scholarship at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. He is the son of Dan and Joanne Elenbaas of Helena.

Britney Claire Barelman of Helena recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Paul David Marshall of Helena recently graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Christopher Spoja of Helena recently completed the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicince degree at the Glendale, Ariz., campus of Midwestern Unviersity. He is the son of Joe and Berely Spoja of Helena.

Joe Williams was named to the spring term Dean's List at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, where he is majoring in computer science. He is the son of Bob and Peggy Jo Williams of Helena.

Rachel Dellwo was named to the spring term Dean's List at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich., where she is majoring in marketing and management. She is the daughter of Mike and Arlene Dellwo of Helena.

Kassie Kallin was named to the fall term Dean's List at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., where she is studying peace studies. She is the daughter of Karen and Karl Kallin of Helena.

Mandi Jourdonnais of Helena has been accepted to Jamestown College in Jamestown, N.D. She is the daughter of Craig and Marta Jourdonnais.

Cassie R. Koch of Helena was named to the fall term Dean's List at the Idaho State University College of Education.

George Allen of Helena was recently inducted into Alpha Epsilon Delta, an honors society for premedical education, at Montana State University.

Micah Crowley of Helena was recently inducted into Alpha Epsilon Delta, an honors society for premedical education, at Montana State University.

Tyler Hare was recently awarded an $8,000 Fox Foundation scholarship at the University of Montana, where he will major in biology. He is the son of Lance and Sandy Hare of Helena.

Casey Cronin was recently awarded a $1,000 Miles Scholarship at the University of Montana, where she is studying photography. She is the daughter of Jan and Mike Cronin of Helena.

Elizabeth Cronin recently received a $1,000 Excellence Fund Scholarship at the University of Montana, where she is studying drama and anthropology. She is the daughter of Jan and Mike Cronin of Helena.

Azher Dunn, a student at Helena Middle School, has been recognized for academic achievement as a United States Honor Student Award winner. She is the daughter of Randy and Holly Dunn of Helena.

Helena area students' art and writing have been published in the 16th edition of "Signatures from Big Sky," a magazine for K-12 students. The students are:
