Robert Morgan was born in Helena in 1929. A realist painter, Morgan paints scenes of a “Montana that is gone: and wildlife.” After serving in the Montana National Guard and as curator and acting director for a year with the Montana Historical Society, Morgan started working full time as an artist in 1970. Morgan’s stated goal: “To research and interpret on canvas is to leave a legacy for others to enjoy and know what happened in the creation of this civilization. There is no greater place to do this than Montana.”
