Steven Sidney Ryan, 67, formerly of Helena, died February 20th 2017, in Meridian, Idaho.
Born Oct. 18, 1949 in Auburn,Washington to Lewis and Rose Ryan. In 1952 the family moved to Helena, MT.
Steve had many chapters to his life.
He was a youth of the ’60’s and mostly lived life on his own terms.
In 1969 he married Rita Kay Morris, they had two sons, Matthew & Jason. They divorced in 1971.
Steve was an exceptional mechanic, working in Alaska for CAT Equipment during early ’70’s.
While in Alaska he married Karen Dotten in 1974, they moved to Montana & lived in the Bitterroot Valley & later lived in Seeley Lake.
Their daughter Burma was born in 1979. They would divorce in 1982.
Steve & Denise Vosacek were married August 1984 and lived in Missoula. Their son Christopher was born in 1986.
Steve continued his mechanicing and painting trade and restoring vintage cars. The family would later move to Colorado.
Steve had a passion for mining. He had two mines (Chicken Run & Top O’Deep) in the mountains of Montana.
During his years of mining he would received two awards from BLM for his environmental mining practices.
He enjoyed the solitude life of mining and spent many years chasing his dreams.
After his mining adventures he entertained himself buying and selling coins. Steve and Denise would divorce in 2008.
Steve is survived by; sons Patrick Schmidt, Matthew Schmidt, Christopher Ryan and daughter Burma Naylor, also seven grandchildren, niece Paula Ryan and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis & Rose Ryan, his brother Mike Ryan, & son Jason Schmidt.
Cremation has taken place and he will be layed to rest in Helena next to his parents. A memorial will be held in the spring. May he rest in Peace.
