Greenfield, Norma Jean Marie

Norma Jean Marie Greenfield, the daughter of Theodore Adam and Mabel Dorothea Jochims, was born February 22, 1931, in Charter Oak, Iowa. She passed away December 27, 2017. She received her education in the Dunlap and Mapleton, Iowa area schools. On July 31, 1952, she was united in marriage to Cecil Clinton Greenfield in Miles City, Montana. They lived in several towns in Montana and Wyoming until 1960, when they moved to Helena. Norma Jean worked for the State of Montana, Department of Livestock for thirteen years before retiring in 1978. She also served as Chief Steno for the 1981 Montana House of Representatives. From 1984 to 1986, she served on the Board of Directors for the YWCA.

Norma Jean was known by many in Helena as either Jeanie or Nama, depending on your age. You could always count on Jeanie to greet you with a warm smile and a hug. She loved watching sports and spending time with her family. Jeanie loved to have company over to her house and share stories and pearls of wisdom. The main themes revolved around working hard for what you want and being willing to do the right thing, even in tough circumstances. She taught many the power of kindness and unconditional love.

Norma Jean is survived by a daughter Gayle (Michael) Agostinelli of Helena; two step-children, Gary (Carolyn) Greenfield, Naples, Florida and Victoria (Nick) Jensen, Santa Clara, Utah; four grandchildren, Mike (Heather) Agostinelli, Amy (Chad) Swanson, Joanie (Nick) Garreffa, and Mary Agostinelli; five step-grandchildren Dominic (Stephanie) Greenfield and Allison (Brian) Vogt, Scott Capser, Ron Capser, & Nathan (Jessica) Valentine; one sister, Delores Carlson, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and one brother Robert E. (Louetta) Jochims, Ida Grove, Iowa; cousin, friend and companion Shirley Bentzen Reese and many great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

The family is very thankful for the love and support shown over the last week. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make donations to the YWCA.
