Susan J. Cote passed away peacefully on February 3, 2018 at the age of 99. Sue was born October 27, 1918 to Frank and Verna (Keller) Miller. She was the oldest of 10 children. She attended St. Mary’s grade school and graduated from Helena High School in 1935. She was one of the students that attended school in the railroad cars after the 1935 earthquake.
Sue married the love of her life Ted M. Cote, they eloped and got married in Ft. Benton on August 1, 1938. The young couple moved to Idaho and onto Moses Lake WA before returning to Helena. She went to work at Mountain Bell Phone Company in 1949 as a switch board operator. When she retired in 1979 her title was NBS Supervisor in the Marketing Department.
After retirement Ted and Sue wintered at their home in Lake Havasu City AZ. They loved to go for day trips and explore all the little towns, those were their great adventures. They spent their summers at their home in Helena and always found time to use their motorhome for some camping. One of their favorite places was their daughter’s home in Lincoln where they had large family gatherings. After Ted’s death in 2002 she sold the two homes and moved to Hunters Pointe Retirement (gracious living) where she has lived the last 10 years. Sue enjoyed a few memorable trips in her retirement to Tahiti, Hawaii and Alaska.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ted Cote, daughter Carol Romey, Brothers: Bing, Frank, Jack, Bob and Don. Sisters: Mamie, Dolly, Peggy, and Ruth.
She is survived by Son Joe M. Cote (Mimi), 8 grandchildren: Teresa, Pat, Corey, Joe, Mike, Becky, Steve. 12 Great Grandchildren and several wonderful great great grandchildren.
Per Sue’s Request there will be no services and deposition of the cremains will be held at a later date.
