Galen Hollenbaugh has been appointed as commissioner of the Montana Department of Labor and Industry.
The appointment was announced by Gov. Steve Bullock's office Wednesday.
Hollenbaugh was the deputy commissioner for the department under former commissioner Pam Bucy, who left earlier this year for a job in the private sector.
Hollenbaugh, 49, a Missoula native, has been acting commissioner since Sept. 8. He has worked for the state for more than 20 years and has been with Labor and Industry since 2012. He has a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's of public administration from the University of Montana.
In addition to his tenure with multiple state agencies, Hollenbaugh also served four terms in the Montana House of Representatives, representing the south- central area of Helena.
