The U.S. Forest Service is auctioning off a former administrative site in Helena.
The site, located at 2001 Poplar Street, is being sold at public auction online. This sale supports the government’s goal to reduce its real estate footprint by selling underutilized property, the Forest Service said in a news release.
The sale is taking place at the U.S. General Services Administration’s online auction website. All such auctions are open to the general public, and all bidding takes place at https://RealEstateSales.gov.
The property is located off Airport Road at the Cedar Street Exit from Interstate 15. It contains approximately 13.98 acres and 10 structures totaling approximately 14,930 square feet. The property is zoned a mix of B-2 (general commercial) and CLM (commercial-light manufacturing) and verification is the responsibility of bidders through the Community Development Department at 447-8490.
The property was used for Forest Service operations since the mid-1950s. Those operations have been relocated and the property and support structures are no longer needed, the agency said.
Online bidding started Nov. 3 and those interested in becoming registered bidders are still being accepted. Inspections are allowed by appointment for interested bidders to view the property.
The auction closes Feb. 7. The bid as of Friday afternoon was $1.035 million.
