Pssst! Anyone out there looking for a quiet companion? Redenbacher is ready. In fact he’s been waiting since March.
Redenbacher is a neutered male, about 2 years old, who arrived as a stray and formed a close friendship with another orange-and-white cat named — what else — Orville.
The shelter staff hoped they might go home together, but Orville was adopted solo a few months ago. Redenbacher seems to miss Orville, and is getting tired of shelter life and of being “the one left behind.”
He’s open to finding a new best friend, and in our open cat room Redenbacher gets along with all the other cats. He seems likely to do well with cat-savvy dogs too, though he may not have the patience to be handled by children younger than about 10.
Redenbacher would be a low-key, undemanding companion in a quieter household. Though he came in off the streets, he was in excellent health then, and is now, too. He’s a sturdy 12-pound cat with short, smooth fur that is easy to brush. Redenbacher likes being groomed, and petted too, and will reward you with a soft purr. He’s affectionate but not demanding. When you’re busy doing other things, he’s contented to watch the world go by, or doze in the sun.
If you’re looking for a feline friend, come meet Redenbacher today between noon and 3 p.m. at Birds & Beasley’s, 70 S. Park Ave. Other cats will be just a short walk away, at the Lewis & Clark Library, 120 S. Last Chance Gulch. For more information, or to meet more adoptable cats and dogs, visit the Lewis & Clark Humane Society, 2112 East Custer Ave. The shelter’s telephone number is 442-1660.
