George Wuerthner, an ecologist, photographer, and author of 35 books including “Wildfire: A Century of Failed Forest Policy,” will discuss the the role of wildfire and beetles in creating dead wood Thursday, Nov. 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the UM Helena—College of Technology, Room 1115, located at North Roberts.
Wuerthner will discuss how dead trees are critical to a “healthy” forest ecosystem. He will also discuss how humans can learn to live with fire and beetles.
The lecture, sponsored by the Montana Environmental Information Center and Montana Audubon, is free and open to the public.
