What was reported as a suspicious male with a pistol turned out to be a 53-year-old man carrying an airsoft gun around 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 1700 block of Missoula Avenue in Helena.
City and county officers asked people to leave the area, including the nearby softball fields where games were being played, after receiving reports of a man waving a gun. Some people told authorities the man appeared to be agitated.
Officials say the man did not make any threats, and it did not appear that he shot anything with the airsoft gun. No charges were filed.
"Again, with the reports of a male with a gun that came into the area, the officers took precaution and moved people out of the area," the Helena Police Department said in a press release. "Officers located the male and determined a crime did not occur."
