A 25-year-old Helena woman is accused of forging a check for nearly $4,000.

Taylor Renee Corne is being charged with forgery, a felony.

On Saturday, officers spoke with someone who had received a suspicious check while selling a vehicle to Corne, who allegedly told the person that the check was a loan from her grandfather for $3,980.

Officers heard from another man who had a check stolen from his mailbox, which matched the name on the check Corne passed to the person selling the vehicle. Corne was arrested shortly afterward.
