A 27-year-old Helena man is accused of punching and strangling his partner, causing her to black out.
Joshua Maplethorpe is being charged with a felony count of strangulation of a partner or family member and a misdemeanor count of partner or family member assault.
On Feb. 6, officers responded to a suspicious call for an ambulance and made contact with Maplethorpe, who gave officers a false name and date of birth, according to court documents.
Officers spoke to the victim, who told them that Maplethorpe had punched her twice and then choked her with his arm until she began to black out, according to court documents.
Maplethorpe was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.
