A 22-year-old Helena man is accused of strangling, punching and kicking his partner and slamming her head through a wall.
Abraham Nava is being charged with one count of strangulation of a partner or a family member and three felony counts of assault on a partner or family member.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance Monday. Court documents state the victim, who had several injuries, told officers about multiple incidents of violence involving Nava.
Nava allegedly strangled the woman and threw her to the floor, causing her head to go through a piece of drywall. He is also accused of kicking her, punching her several times in the head and striking her with an open hand.
The victim said Nava has a history of violence, according to court documents.
Nava has two prior convictions for domestic violence in California.
