A 50-year-old Helena man is accused of passing stolen checks in excess of $27,000.
John Dean Blacker is being charged with forgery.
On Jan. 9, a Helena resident found that a check that she did not issue or authorize was received by Verizon Wireless in Great Falls on Jan. 4 for a $729.99 iPhone. The resident then found a receipt in her vehicle for the iPhone with Blacker’s name on it, according to court documents.
Then on Jan. 13, an officer investigated a forgery at a Helena car dealership. A John Blacker had allegedly issued two checks on Jan. 9 for $5,500 and $21,000 in order to purchase two vehicles, according to court documents.
