A 27-year-old Butte man is accused of stealing multiple gold and diamond rings in Lewis and Clark County while delivering a mattress.
Sean Michael Mason is charged with felony theft.
A deputy spoke with a man in Lewis and Clark County on Jan. 23 who said he was missing three rings and suspected Mason, who had delivered a mattress, of stealing them on Jan. 18. The rings were estimated to be worth $2,500.
The deputy later found that Mason was in custody of the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office for an unrelated jewelry theft in Gallatin County.
The deputy then found that Mason had pawned the rings in Butte on Jan. 18. Mason admitted to pawning the rings in Butte, according to court documents.
