Authorities are seeking information on two suspects accused of stealing an ATM machine from a Helena-area business before leading deputies on a high-speed chase along Lincoln Road Saturday. The suspects may have also been involved in an attempted burglary in Lincoln in December.
The ATM machine was stolen from the Causeway Chalet north of Helena around 3:20 a.m. Saturday, the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office reported. The deputies who were dispatched to the scene attempted to stop a silver Dodge crew cab truck leaving the area, which led to a pursuit reaching speeds of 100 mph.
Officials say it appeared that the suspects were familiar with that stretch of Lincoln Road, and deputies ended the pursuit at the top of Flesher Pass due to safety concerns.
The truck appeared to be the same one used in an attempted burglary of D&D Foodtown in Lincoln on Dec. 31, officials said. Surveillance footage from that incident shows two suspects wearing masks over their faces, as well as a silver Dodge crew cab truck with a low-profile toolbox in the truck bed.
The truck involved in both incidents did not have a front license plate, and the driver's side fog light was not working.
Anyone who thinks they might have seen the suspects or the vehicle is encouraged to call 911, or contact Sgt. Brian Robinson at 406-447-8248. The suspects should not be approached, authorities said.
Deputies are also looking for two persons of interest who were inside the Causeway Chalet Saturday evening. Surveillance video captured pictures of their faces while they were gambling inside the business.
