A Great Falls woman suspected of an armed carjacking in Helena Tuesday was stopped in Gallatin County only after two of her wheels were punctured by spike strips.
Helena officers were dispatched to Alice Street and Runkle Parkway around 3:17 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a carjacking. The suspect, Sidney Aimsback, 29, allegedly led police on a chase through three different counties, involving the Montana Highway Patrol and Broadwater and Gallatin counties' sheriff departments.
Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin said the spike strips took out two of Aimsback's tires.
Aimsback stopped on her own and then refused to get out of the car, Gootkin said. But after 20 minutes of negotiation, she finally consented to leaving the vehicle on her own accord.
Aimsback is being held in Gallatin County on suspicion of probation and parole violations, robbery and theft.
Her bail is set at $100,000.
