A 27-year-old Helena woman is accused of striking a man in the face with a pellet gun, cutting his nose.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Ruthanne Helen Banks on a felony charge of assault with a weapon early Thursday morning. Officers responded after receiving a report of a highly intoxicated woman being injured after falling out of a vehicle.
After finding the vehicle, deputies learned from the alleged victim that he had picked up Banks and her friend earlier in the downtown area and taken them to Banks' home. Court documents say Banks later asked him to drive her to another party and when the victim refused, she began hitting him.
The victim went out to his truck to try to leave when Banks jumped in the back of the pickup. Documents say she continued her attack once inside the truck. That is when she allegedly struck the man in the face with a pellet gun. She also is accused of breaking out the passenger side window with the rifle.
After hearing the victim's statement, deputies found Banks near where the man said he had dropped her off. Court documents say Banks refused to speak with deputies without an attorney present.
