An officer was called to a business in the 10 block of West Lawrence Street Tuesday in response to a report of a male accidentally firing a pistol in the office.

"It was learned the male had pulled the trigger on the pistol while handling it, believing there was not a round chambered in it," the Helena Police Department said in a news release.

The 47-year-old Helena male was cited with negligent endangerment and discharging a firearm within the city limits. He was cited and released.

No one was injured in the incident, HPD said.
