Authorities say an 80-year-old woman died at the scene of a one-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 200 on Sunday afternoon.
Dorothy Brunner of Great Falls died as a result of multiple blunt-force injuries, Lewis and Clark County Coroner Bryan Backeberg said Monday.
Brunner was driving with a passenger in the vehicle when she attempted to pass another vehicle about 12 miles south of Simms around 2:30 p.m., according to the Montana Highway Patrol. While in the opposite lane of travel and nearing an oncoming vehicle, Brunner attempted to go back to the eastbound lane when she over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll.
Neither Brunner nor her passenger was wearing a seat belt, according to MHP reports. Brunner was ejected. On Monday afternoon, officials said the passenger, a woman, was taken to a Great Falls hospital. The extent of her injuries has not been released.
Authorities said speed and impairment were not factors in the crash. Road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the wreck.
