The county coroner said a man found dead Wednesday in a creek north of Lincoln drowned.
State Crime Lab officials were able to recover fingerprints from the man, who has yet to be identified. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation, Lewis and Clark County Coroner Bryan Backeberg said Friday.
The body was found in Landers Fork Creek about a mile north of Copper Creek Road. A search-and-rescue crew extracted the body from the scene, which was in a remote area. It appears the body had not been there very long.
The man is believed to be about 30 or 40 years old. He was wearing only shorts when he was found in the water.
Authorities said one of the only clues near the scene was a stolen car found about eight miles from the body. Investigators believe the car is linked to the man.
