A case alleging age discrimination and constitutional rights violations against the Helena Office of the State Public Defender has been dismissed.

Randi Hood, former head of the Office of the State Public Defender, dismissed the case in late November.

Hood filed a suit last year against the State Public Defenders after she was denied an assistant public defender’s position at the Helena office.

Hood, who was 66 at the time, claimed that age was the reason she was denied the position, as two younger applicants were chosen over her.

For damages, Hood was seeking a position as an assistant public defender in addition to lost wages and compensation for emotional harm.
