Authorities have identified the 1-year-old boy killed in a reported accidental shooting earlier this week as Nicholas Anthony Bowers.
The boy was fatally shot Tuesday by his father, according to Lewis and Clark County Coroner Bryan Backeberg. The father was home with the boy and other children at the time of the shooting, he said.
Officials received a 911 call around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday reporting a possible gunshot on the 200 block of Hope Road. A neighbor reported seeing the father holding the boy and screaming for help.
The circumstances surrounding the boy's death remain under investigation. More details are not expected to be released for about another week, authorities said Friday.
