“The better I get to know men, the more I find myself loving dogs.”

—Charles de Gaulle (former President of the French Republic)

Canines are known for their ability to love their companions in the purest form, in doing so, they’ve carved out the lifetime alias as “man’s [and woman’s] best friend.” Even though they lick their butts, we let them give us kisses. Even though they roll in dead animals, we let them on the couch.  We feed them, shift our schedules around their exercise, ask them to sniff out fowl from grasslands and sage brush, request life long support for the visually impaired, strap them to a sleds and race through snow covered landscapes, and most of all, what do we receive in return? The purest form of love and a primal interdependence we’ve  carried within us since the hunting for Woolly Mammoths.
