Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney helped kick off the new Capitol Square Farmer's Market in Helena Tuesday afternoon.
Sponsored by the state Departments of Agriculture and Administration, the new market will run every Tuesday (except July 4) from 2:30-6:30 p.m. in the Capitol south oval parking lot.
Cooney handed out reusable grocery bags to the first 50 attendees.
“The Capitol Square Farmer's Market will be a great mid-week opportunity for local producers to sell their products,” Cooney said. “It also gives us a chance to showcase the Capitol square, which is a popular spot for tourists and state employees alike.”
Those interested in being a vendor should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The new event is not to be confused with the Helena Farmers Market, now in its 44th season, which is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays along Fuller Ave. each summer.
