Jim Williams and Carol Rygg met in the late summer of 1958. Jim had spent the summer in California, and when he returned there were new owners of the RB Drive-In, but more importantly, a new and pretty carhop! His best friend, Dan Johnson, had just met another new girl and Jim said it was his turn to ask out the new girl in town! Three years later, when Carol was just out of high school and after Jim had spent his first year at Denver University working on his degree, they were married in Helena on June 24, 1961.
Carol and Jim moved to Denver, where Jim graduated and became a CPA. Expecting their first child, they moved to Hood River, Oregon, where Jim had been recruited to be the chief accountant of Diamond Fruit Growers (he later opened his own CPA firm). They had two children, Wendy Lianne and Kirk Thomas. In 1979 the family moved back to Montana where they built a home in the Elkhorn Mountains south of Helena.
In 1981, they bought the Broadwater Athletic Club and after 33 years, they retired from there in February 2015. Throughout their marriage they have had many adventures together with great friends and family. They vacationed all over in Oregon and Montana, in Mexico, Canada and Europe. They raised their children skiing, camping, fishing, horseback riding, hunting and loving the outdoors. They recently celebrated their 55th anniversary with friends at their home on the lake. They plan to camp, fish and travel for several more years.
