Wayne and Judy Walters, of Montana City, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Branson, Missouri, in August. They were also honored at a reception with friends and family hosted by their children at Hannaford Street Bible Church in Helena on Sept. 2, 2017.

The Walters were married Sept. 2, 1967, at Polson United Methodist Church in Polson. They met in January 1967, when they were both employed at the Montana Highway Department. Wayne continued his employment at the Department of Transportation and Judy worked as a secretary for the state of Montana and other offices and stayed home to care for their children during their preschool years. After living in Helena for 10 years, they moved to Montana City and have continued to enjoy that area for 40 years.

After beginning their married life, they have encountered some construction, detours, and unexpected road closures, but Wayne and Judy are blessed and thankful they are still on life’s highway together and are looking forward to roads not traveled.

The Walters have two children, Marcy (David) Chovanak of Helena, and Mark (Dawn) Walters of Montana City. They have four grandchildren: Riley Chovanak, Morgan, Maia and Matthew Walters.
