Ann and Wayne Miller of Helena celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 18, 2016. Ann and Wayne met in 1965 while attending Catholic University in Washington, D.C. They were both there to obtain their master’s degrees in social work. Ann was a resident of So. Charleston, West Virginia, and Wayne, a native Montanan and Carroll College Alumnus.
On their third date Wayne proposed! And it’s been quite the “ride” ever since. The newlyweds eventually made their way back to Montana and have only considered moving elsewhere once, to Maui. Then they came to their senses.
Wayne still enjoys playing with coins daily, and Ann continues her mission helping our homeless veterans, families and friends. The Millers have spent their entire past 50+ years together building their relationships with their family and community of friends that are so dear to them.
Their favorite motto in life is: “If you’ve got it, don’t flaunt it, spread some around.” And they certainly have lead us all as fine examples of how to be part of the solutions to the challenges we face daily.
The Millers have opened up their home and their lives to many that are lucky enough to cross paths with them. They have brought into this world five children and over time adopted four daughters. They also have 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and a rather large extended family. They all mostly reside in Montana and are happy to call Montana “home.”
