Catherine Volf, a dental hygienist at the Fort Harrison Veteran’s hospital, and Stephen Keim, then a young second lieutenant, were married July 12, 1952, at the St. Helena Cathedral.

Steve worked for the Department of Military Affairs and the Montana National Guard for 38 years. He also served as city commissioner and the mayor of Helena from 1969 to 1973.

Cathy was a full-time mom and homemaker. She also volunteered and served as a chairman on the Lewis and Clark Cancer Committee, and on the board of directors of the Good Shepherd Home (later Crittenton Home), both for 25 years.

After Steve’s retirement in 1985, the couple moved to their ranchette in the Bitterroot Valley, where they continued their volunteer work.

They will have a celebration of their anniversary, and be honored at a Keim family reunion the Fourth of July weekend in Seattle, with their entire family present.

The Keim’s five children are Susan (Gary) Doran of Butte, Marilyn (Channing) Yong of El Dorado Hills, California, Stephanie (Brad) Munk of Helena, Steve (Michelle Marie) of Bozeman, and Chris (Michelle Lee) of Roseville, California. They have 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
