DOR reminds taxpayers of April 17 filing
The Montana Department of Revenue reminds taxpayers that individual income tax returns are due this Tuesday, April 17, by midnight.
If people need more time to file their tax return, Montana offers an automatic extension to file up to six months, which is by Oct. 15. There is no form to submit to receive the automatic extension.
The automatic extension of time to file your return does not grant you an extension to pay your tax liability. People who owe a tax payment must still pay by April 17 to avoid late payment penalties and interest. Learn more about filing and payment options at revenue.mt.gov or by calling the call center at 406-444-6900. The call center offers extended hours on April 16 and 17, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. People can also email questions to DORCustomerAssistance@mt.gov.
The IR welcomes reports of hiring, promotions, awards, recognition, learning opportunities and other news from local companies and nonprofits. We accept press releases and photos (digital images at 300 dpi or more are preferred). Email your information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is no charge for items appearing in the Business Briefcase. Items are run on a space-available basis, and we reserve the right to edit and use information as we see fit.
The deadline is Tuesday at noon to be considered for publication the following Sunday.
