Josh Dirks scored three touchdowns as the top-ranked Capital High football team advanced to the Class AA semifinals with a 33-7 victory over Missoula Big SKy on Friday night at Vigilante Stadium.
Capital will face either Missoula Sentinel or Billings Skyview in the semifinal game next Friday.
Dirks caught touchdown passes of 42 and nine yards, and also returned an interception 42 yards for a score for the Bruins (11-0), who ran their state-record winning streak to 32 games.
Capital has scored on its first offensive possession in every game this year and wasted no time getting on the board Friday. Senior quarterback Corey Scevers hit Matt Miller with a 33-yard touchdown pass to cap a five-play, 62-yard drive to give Capital a 7-0 lead.
Capital made it 14-0 on its next possession, going 77 yards in five plays, with Dirks on the receiving end of Scevers' 42-yard scoring pass.
Dirks made the score 21-0 when he intercepted a pass and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown with 7:21 remaining in the second quarter.
Dirks caught a nine-yard pass from Scevers on Capital's first possession of the third quarter to increase the lead to 27-0 after the extra-point attempt failed.
Glen Maricelli got Big Sky (6-5) on the board with a 3-yard touchdown run jsut three second into the fourth quarter. The score capped an eight-play, 43-yard drive.
Scevers posted the final score of the night, when he ran it in from 20 yards out with 9:34 remaining to capa five-play, 59-yard drive.
